Our store is back!

On November 9th, 2005 our roastery was burned to the ground. Since that time online orders have been put on hold. But now we're happy to announce that our store is back online and we're ready to fill orders again!

We also have a complete story and gallery of photos detailing what happened with the fire, and some news about our new ventures.

Read all about it in the fire gallery »

More information

Welcome to the Midnight Sun Coffee Roastery! We're a micro-roastery way up in Canada's Yukon, land of the Midnight Sun. If you've never experienced it, you'll need to know that the midnight sun is a wonderful phenomena that infuses all those it shines on with energy, warmth, and a feeling of being alive (that is more than delirium from staying awake too many hours!) And the memory of it carries us through many a dark, cold winter. It is the spirit of adventure and possibility, stretching from the lives of long-ago pioneers to present day "experience-seekers". We approach every day with that spirit and hope that you can join us!

Fresh roasting is our passion- and while I would love as many people as possible to try our great coffee, I am emphatic about one thing; seek out micro-roasters wherever you go! These little caches of gold are becoming more and more prominent in even the smallest communities. They are often launching pads for discussion, entertainment, world-problem-solving, soulmate-finding, thinking, writing and dreaming. Their role through-out coffee's long history has not changed much and the character of the Roaster lends a certain freedom that no chain store could ever provide!

If you're lookin' for adventure, come on up to the Yukon and see us!

If you can't make it, enjoy it through our site over a coffee that has been roasted with the spirit of adventure & a love for life under the magical, mysterious, Midnight Sun. Life's journey just keeps getting better and better!!

News and Events
Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes...

After an unsuccessful effort to sell the Main Street store, I have decided not to renew the lease, and Zola's Cafe Dore has now closed its doors. The good news is that there is a smile on my face for the first time in months, and the Roastery is a great, fun, jumpin' place to get your espresso drinks and beans. See you there! Zola

24 HRS OF LIGHT RIDES AGAIN!

Another successful 24 hours of light Mountain Bike Event was had by all on June 28/29. Of special congratulations to all riders, we tried to make this a paperless event, and to the credit of everyone bringing their own mug, we only used 20 paper cups!!! This is a huge improvement on our usual 250-300 cups for this event. Way to go riders and volunteers!!!! Your hostesses Katya, Vanessa (the all-night superstar!) and Zola thank you!!!

USA shipping-IMPORTANT NOTICE

A sad note of news to all our US coffee fans; as of Jan 1/08 Dubya has proclaimed that all commercial shipments MUST go thru a US Customs Broker. This puts small businesses (like us) on border Provinces in a less than progressive situation as far as cross-border trading goes. The cost of brokerage is too much for small shipments, and now we will have to ship everything via Canada Post, and it will 1)take longer and 2)cost more to the customer (YOU!). THIS SUCKS!!! Please call your favourite Government official and express your displeasure at this hit on small business, and the affront to your caffeine delivery system!! In the meantime, hold in there with us if you can, we're trying to work to a better conclusion...

Some items not available

Some of you may notice that some items that had been offered in the past are no longer on the shopping cart, like mugs, t-shirts, etc.. We are currently out of stock, and still short on extra cash to replenish them, thanks to our not-so-friendly insurance folks! Be patient, we'll definitely have new, cool items by the summer, that's a promise!

Welcome Katya

We are really excited to announce Katya McQueen as the General Manager for Midnight Sun Coffee Roasters. Moving here from Ontario with her family, she brings with her a wealth of Cafe and Service Industry experience. Katya will be running the day to day operations of our company, as Zola focusses on the process of rebuilding after the fire.

Roasters...WHERE ARE YOU?!!!

Just to let you all know, our coffee Roasters are on deck and ready to take your orders. Our phone number hasn't changed, so you can always reach us that way, and as of October 2006, you can come have an espresso or latte, watch us roast, and get stoked over a great selection of bikes, gear and skis at 9002 Quartz Rd. (across from Home Hardware) in our new location with Icycle Sport. If you are not in Whitehorse, you can now call us on our Toll-Free number 1-888-633-4563.
