Our Team

We are an all girl team,

Catherin- the gal who keeps us all on the straight and narrow, we imported her all the way from Germany a couple years ago, cause Katya needed some one who could teach her German slang words and also keep the Roastery clean and running efficiently.

You can speak to Catherin in English or German two days a week; she might even let you try on the classic German house shoes she felts by the dozen. A seriously important part of our coffee machine!

April- our newest member, is well versed in making midnight sun coffee..April worked in our Canada Games Center location for years, so we stole her back to work here at the roastery, she complements the team by being sweet and kind and lovely, making us all look good along the way..

Casey- Katya’s younger sister , and the only one not on parole, she takes care of our books , makes sure we eat, pays the bills on time and reminds us all how kick ass she is by never sweating the big stuff. A triple threat, she roasts, she balances the books, and makes the best freakin’ latte in town

Michelle- Michelle is busy. Very busy, when she is not teaching figure skating to kids, playing Bingo, skating herself, or working in the courts building, she graces us with her presence on Saturdays, by always showing up on time, making customers happy with her charm.I just wish she would quit one of her many activities so that we can take up more of her time.

Vanessa

Can be seen roasting coffee in her usual style, singing show tunes to the San Franciscan at 8am every morning, she claims this is how the coffee gets so yummy. Happy Beans!

If you have had a cup of Midnight Sun Coffee in the last couple years, there is a 98% chance she roasted it. Trained by Zola Dore years ago, Vanessa breathes verve and life into every batch she roasts. Vanessa is Casey and Katya’s cousin, rounding out this family –run business.

Katya

After living the city life with her husband Steve and her two children in Toronto, Katya set her sights on the great white North After training with Zola for 4 years she decided that the prospect of roasting coffee in Whitehorse would just be terrible fun so she decided to stay, now she can be seen working alongside her friends and family, which is just how she likes it.

Mama: Katya and Casey’s mom, who helps out, with all the jobs no one likes to do. Thanks Mama!, also has been known to cook us delicious meals, watch the kids, take out the garbage, clean, scold, stamp bags ( ugh!)  And she also is the creator of the large felted birds that you see around the shop.

And we could not get through the day with out help from our Mr.fixit Steve McQueen ( schneller Hase)

Who really can fix anything. And to Gord, who always brings us medicine when we are sick, food when we are hungry, libation when we are thirsty, and always asks before he steals the muffins!

And a big shout out to the bike boys, who so nicely share their space with us everyday,

Devon, Jonah, Rory, and Pat, thanks for

Lifting coffee bags, moving stuff, fixing our bikes, making us laugh, making us cry, and a big kiss for all the scotch.
